Awards
Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from Staten Island high schools at the end of their senior year. The scholarships will be monetary and will help these students defray their tuition costs. The recipients will be selected through input from a committee formed at the high school level including the principal of the school, the assistant principal of instructional support, the assistant principal of guidance, and other teachers in the instructional support department. The Board members will approve or disapprove the candidates for scholarships. In addition to academic achievement, other criteria will play a role in the selection process, such as:
- The student’s ability to overcome adversity
- Strength and perseverance
- Leadership
- Community service both in and out of school.
